The UN has accused Ukraine of mass torture...Ukraine denies inspectors access to prisons


The security service of Ukraine (SBU) carries out mass arrests of suspects in separatism and applies the torture.

This was explained in an interview with The Times, the assistant UN Secretary General for human rights Ivan šimonović.

The representative of the organization referred to the UN report, which reveals details of the crimes of the Ukrainian security forces. Experts have recorded hundreds of cases of illegal holding, torture and ill-treatment of prisoners.

And this applies to governmental organizations, and the militia in the East of the country.

According to the document, the disregard for human rights on the part of Kiev so entrenched that requires surgery.

In Ukraine you can get arrested just for the fact that fall relative to the alleged “separatist”, said šimonović. He cited a case where representatives of the security service broke into the home of 74-year-old woman, beat her up and accused of terrorism. She is still in prison, despite the fact that suspicion fell on her son.

To another detainee used a Taser, beat him, threatened to murder, then began hammering. In the result, the detainee confessed on camera that he is "a member of an armed group".

As wrote Ruposters, May 26th, members of the UN Subcommittee on prevention of torture left Ukraine because of the denial of access to certain places of deprivation of liberty, where, on suspicion of organization, employees of the SBU may unlawfully hold people.
