Assad: The West is dishonest, and it's the most important lesson we learned from Syria
In the modern world there is neither international law nor morality in politics, it is therefore important to be able to choose partners who will provide support during the crisis, said the President of Syria Bashar Assad.
DAMASCUS, 3 April — RIA Novosti. Syria's President Bashar al-Assad believes that the West country cannot be relied upon — they are dishonest and their policies at odds with international law.
"The most important lesson we learned, but I believe that we know him for a long time, is that the West is unfair. Western countries are not sincere. They have a policy far from the principles of international law and the UN. To the West cannot be relied on to solve any problem. The better friends you got, the faster and with the least damage possible to solve.
Therefore, every statesman should be able to choose a friendly state that will be with him in times of crisis," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to Assad, he would not wish for any nation and people to go through what was Syria.
"We had to undergo inhuman tests. However, we live in a world in which today there is neither international law nor morality in politics. Anything can happen anywhere in the world. But what I want to say based on our experience in Syria, firstly, that any manifestation of fanaticism, whether religious, political, or obsession with any idea is destructive for the society. You must avoid fanaticism in order to build societies, it is the duty of the state, as well as the obligation of all of the existing members of this society, and the duty of every citizen," he said.
"Another point — if this happens, or a crisis in any country, the first thing that any statesman should know what a defender of the country is the people. And when choosing a plan of action to resolve the crisis, it was necessary to meet the customs and traditions of the people, their history, their basic aspirations. The solution cannot come from abroad. To you from abroad to the aid can come friends, as happened today: Russia and Iran. But if there is no internal will and good relations between the people and the state, it is impossible to find a solution," — said the President of Syria.
